Boom in UK Online Marketing
The British online advertisement sector has accomplished a tremendous hike in the third quarter of 2006, says the Institute for Practitioners in Advertising, the professional institute for leading advertising, media, and marketing agencies in London. According to the latest Bellwether report by IPA, Internet marketing has outstripped all other sectors of marketing with potential gains rising to £917.2m in the first half of the year 2006. This has encouraged around 11.5% companies to divert a significant part of their budget to online marketing to shore up respectable market shares.
Commenting on the phenomenon, David Pattison, IPA’s President says, "The growth is driven predominantly by direct marketing and internet advertising at the expense of the more established media sectors, continuing the trends that we have seen over the last 18 months."
However, the new wave in online business has brought with it a significant undercurrent of anxiety among the traditional content companies like ITV, GCap, and Trinity Mirror that see their income from advertising depreciating over the past few months. Some of these companies are looking forward to leverage the power of online services in order to capitalize on such growth trends in internet advertising.
